Weekdays after 6PM
EducationI earned my BS in Biology from University of Houston and my MS in Biology from Florida State University. I am also a certified teacher in the states of Florida and Georgia.
Throughout my biology degrees, I received extensive training in cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, human physiology, anatomy, immunology, endocrinology, and neuroscience, as well as a solid foundation in chemistry, psychology, and mathematics.
Throughout my academic career, I have encountered excellent professors who inspire a love of their subject as well as ineffective professors who bred resentment of their subject. I have learned from both and become a better teacher myself in the process. I cannot wait to help you reach your academic career goals while learning to love your subject.
ExperienceI taught at the undergraduate level for several years and have worked for both local and national tutoring companies teaching both SAT/ACT/GRE test prep as well as assisting with specific subjects. Although my specialty is science, I really enjoy tutoring math and writing as well.
Thanks to my BS and MS in Biology, I have a solid background in human physiology, ranging from neuroscience to straight anatomy. In addition, I am able to assist with many other fields under the umbrella of biology, as well as some math, chemistry, and psychology. I also frequently work with students who need assistance with their essays. I offer proofreading/editing services with an extremely quick turnaround.
I have been nominated for and won various teaching awards and honors during my tenure at Florida State University. I am also involved with several outreach programs that aim to bring science out of the lab and to the general public.
HobbiesIn general, I am a goofy science nerd. I believe that the worst possible way to teach is to drone on until your student falls into an apathetic stupor. I pride myself on being able to teach anybody anything- even if it takes a combination of interpretive dance and my horrible drawing skills to explain a tough concept. I don't mind if you laugh at my goofy memory tips- laughing brains are more absorbent!
